Graphic Designer - Hartford, CT or Parsippany, NJ

Day Pitney LLP is seeking a talented Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer creates, implements and manages the firm's creative projects from concept through production in both print and electronic formats. This position coordinates with multiple departments and office locations to provide graphic design services related to sponsorship ads, brochures, website graphics, client alerts, newsletters, and event invitations and collateral. Requires sophisticated skills in both HTML and print design using Adobe Creative Suite. The candidate must be familiar with HTML e-mail design restrictions and best practices.

The position requires strong design, communication, writing and editing skills, and attention to detail. The ability to coordinate multiple projects, with varying and changing priorities, and to meet tight deadlines is imperative. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively and possess a strong service orientation.

In addition, the candidate will provide backup for marketing department colleagues with event planning, RFPs and other marketing department activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing design products using original designs and templates to meet the needs of attorneys, department stakeholders, and Marketing colleagues.
  • Ensuring that all design products adhere to the firm's style guide and brand standards and are approved through the proper channels.
  • Coordinating graphics projects; identifying tasks and duties associated with the projects, and developing timelines; overseeing the daily activities of the Desktop Publishing Specialist.
  • Selecting and monitoring printing and design vendors to manage costs and ensure high quality product(s).
  • Obtaining and managing all photo rights for rights-managed imagery.
  • Organizing/archiving electronic graphics files and graphics supplies, paper/vendor samples and printed branding samples.

Education/Experience:

  • B.A./B.S. required. Major in graphics/art, communication, public relations and/or marketing preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a graphics professional.
  • Professional services/law firm experience.
  • Operating technology: Windows and Mac operating systems, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, Photoshop and/or other appropriate design software.
  • Basic marketing principles, procedures and concepts.
