Learning and Development Specialist - Hartford, CT; Stamford, CT

Department: Human Resources
FLSA: Exempt
Reports to: Learning and Development Manager
Position Location: Stamford (preferred) or Hartford – regular travel to other firm offices required

Work with the Learning and Development Manager and other Learning and Development Specialists to develop and maintain a culture of organizational learning. Develop and deliver firm wide learning programs for both legal and non-legal staff aligned with firm strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop training objectives, procedures, programs and curriculum to meet firm, department and practice needs
  • Create and update course outlines and reference materials for new and existing software applications and product upgrades and for soft skill workshops and training programs
  • Conduct training – via classroom, one-on-one, or eLearning – on a variety of professional subjects, ranging from software applications to soft skills, to all Firm personnel
  • Develop, in consultation with Managers and Directors, job-specific skill assessments and generate and monitor personal training plans for employees consistent with skill assessments.
  • Coordinate administrative tasks associated with training: scheduling classroom or individual training sessions; maintain training calendar and records; assessing and confirming necessary technology requirements for training delivery.
  • Create Microlearning modules using Adobe Captivate and Screencast-o-Matic
  • Participate in personal professional development programs
  • Participate in special projects as needed

  • Experience in assessing training needs, developing curriculum – including formulating training objectives and delivering training classes in groups and to individuals

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time to other Firm offices with additional travel required during peak training or rollout periods
  • Previous experience with Office 2010 and above (Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint, Visio), Windows 7

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • At least three years' experience in adult education, classroom teaching, and curriculum development
  • Prior law firm experience, including experience with legal-specific software applications
  • Previous experience working in large-scale application upgrades (e.g. Office 2010 conversion)
  • Previous experience scripting, storyboarding, developing eLearning/video content
  • Previous experience with Matter-Centric FileSite 8.5+, Windows 10, Microsoft 2010 and above, PDF software, time-entry software, InterAction or other CRM, and Adobe Captivate
