Pricing Analyst - Hartford, CT or Parsippany, NJ

The Pricing Analyst will assist with analysis and reporting related to client billing arrangements and firm matter management. The individual hired will interface with billing attorneys to budget and evaluate profitability of matters including fixed fee and alternative fee arrangements (legal project management (LPM) function) and will work closely with the firm COO/CFO and Director of Financial Operations. The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive, technology savvy, team member able to work in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

This position will assist with analysis and reporting related to client billing arrangements and firm matter management including but not limited to:
  • Using financial modeling to evaluate billing arrangement proposals
  • Work daily with LPM software (Budget Manager), Business Intelligence Software (Iridium BI), financial systems (Aderant and DTE) and customized dashboards and reporting
  • Perform billing rate analyses of publicly available market data
  • Prepare reports on firm client and matters and complete financial statements, monthly reports, and profitability analyses.
  • Prepare matter budgets used in proposals and matter planning
  • Generate project management statistics
  • Assist with the preparation of RFP responses
  • Assist with the analysis of alternative fee arrangement proposals
  • Research billing history and benchmarking similar previous matters

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree – preferably in accounting, finance, or economics
  • Minimum of five years working experience in a similar capacity for another professional services firm. Legal industry experience strongly preferred
  • Comfort working with financial systems and software
  • Extremely high level of proficiency in MS Office; especially Excel – must be able to use pivot tables and V-lookups

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of Aderant, Budget Manager toolset, Elite, FileMaker, SQL, and Redwood.
