Beth Barton Speaks at Brownfields Conference

April 3, 2011

Beth Barton will be a speaker at the EPA's Brownfields 2011 Conference, which takes place in Philadelphia from April 3-5. Beth is part of a panel titled "Brownfield Innovations: Progressive Programs and Policies Pushing Projects," which is scheduled for Monday, April 4, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Facilitated Q&A will introduce attendees to:

  • New York City's city-run brownfield oversight and incentives program;
  • the remedial oversight privatization initiatives in Connecticut (Licensed Environmental Professionals), Massachusetts (Licensed Site Professionals) and New Jersey (Licensed Site Remediation Professionals);
  • the cooperative agreement among multiple levels of government in Pennsylvania that facilitated the huge, and hugely successful, Bethlehem Steel site redevelopment;
  • and the bona fide ground lease program from California, which offers developer immunity and produces an income stream for property owners to restore contaminated property.

Emphasis will be on what works, with plenty of attendee interaction and sharing of ideas affording the opportunity to learn from each other about what is working on the ground to improve brownfield success across the nation.
