On October 7, Steven Cash spoke at "Cybersecurity: Tension Between Innovation and Security," an event presented by the Connecticut Power and Energy Society (CPES) and held at Yale University in New Haven, CT. The program centered around the potential cyberattacks and data breaches that could disrupt the power grid in light of modernizing electric infrastructure.

Cash focused on strategic decision making in the cybersecurity area by industry leaders; his co-panelists addressed the implications of greater access to real time customer information, how to secure the data, and practical tools to prepare for system disruptions. The discussion was moderated by Arthur House, Connecticut's Chief Cybersecurity Risk Officer, and other panelists included Connor Phoenix, FBI Supervisory Special Agent leading the Connecticut FBI's Cyber Squad and Benjamin Loebick, Manager of Smart Meter System Operations at The United Illuminating Company.

CPES is an association of energy professionals dedicated to generating information, sharing ideas and educating Connecticut about the energy industry. Day Pitney senior associate Alexander W. Judd serves on its Board of Directors. For more information, click here.
