Robert Appleton published an article, "Incidents of Foreign Bribery Remain Largely The Same: A Circumstance Unlikely to Change" in the White-Collar Crime Committee Newsletter Winter Edition, in response to the "Foreign Bribery Report," issued by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) in December 2014. Bob notes that just a small number of countries have taken successful action against the bribery of public officials, in a relatively small number of cases. The cases highlighted by the OECD in its report were largely confined to the developed world, leading them to conclude that bribery was more prevalent in Western countries and that the perception that corruption is rife in the developing world is overblown. Bob argues, based upon his own experience, that the OECD report is not a comprehensive review of the subject.
