In an article for the Connecticut Law Tribune, Flossie Davis and Jen Galiette discuss the impetus for and impact of a new consumer protection law establishing immediate requirements for the state's competitive electric suppliers and directing state regulators to take future action. They describe how state lawmakers stepped in and passed this legislation in the midst of an investigation into the practices of the competitive electric suppliers launched by Connecticut state regulators to determine how to better protect retail electric customers after energy prices spiked last winter. They note that this new law essentially overrode the investigation and halted that proceeding for a time.
