Washington, D.C., March 4, 2015 - Day Pitney LLP announced today that Steven A. Cash has joined the firm's Washington D.C. office as counsel in the Commercial Litigation department and the White Collar Defense and Internal Investigations practice group.

Cash is a seasoned litigator, having represented individual and corporate clients in criminal, commercial litigation and national security matters. Before joining Day Pitney, he was the principal at the Law Offices of Steven Cash, PLLC in Washington, D.C., which he founded in 2008.

"I believe Day Pitney's strong reputation in complex commercial litigation and its full-service experience will provide the clients with whom I work a strong platform to all of their legal needs," said Cash. "I am optimistic that the firm's strong reputation and team of talented attorneys in the field will provide more opportunities for my practice to expand. It opens up a lot of great possibilities."

Cash has broad legal and other government experience at the federal and state level in the executive, legislative and judicial branches. Mr. Cash was chief counsel and staff director to the U.S. Senate's Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security, and chief counsel to Senator Dianne Feinstein. He has also served as chief of staff to the Director of Intelligence, Department of Energy; as staff director to the U.S. House of Representative's Select Committee on Homeland Security; and as a professional staff member and counsel to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Mr. Cash was deeply involved in much of the legislation developed after the 9/11 attacks, including the USA-Patriot Act, the Department of Homeland Security Act, and the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act, which created the position of Director of National Intelligence.

"Day Pitney continues to invest in bringing on board top litigators," said Dennis LaFiura, the firm's Litigation Department Chair. "We think Steve will be an incredible asset to our expanding trial team capabilities. By adding Steve to our team, we are strategically strengthening our capacity to defend clients that are the subject of government investigations and assist our clients in reducing the risks that they find themselves in such circumstances."

Presently Cash serves as co-chair of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia's Committee on National Security Law & Policy, a member of the Board of Advisors to George Mason University's National Security Law Journal, and is the Co-Vice Chairman of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence's Biological Sciences Experts Group.

Cash is a graduate of Vassar College and Yale Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia.

Cash's arrival follows the recent addition of litigation partner Michael Furey and the promotion of two litigators, Marco Anzalone and J. Andres Mayor, to partner.
