Michael Furey was quoted in an article, "Barnabas, Hackensack Meridian Execs to be deposed in Omnia suit, judge rules," in NJBIZ. Day Pitney is representing three New Jersey hospitals in a lawsuit against Horizon Healthcare, relating to its new, multi-tiered health plan called Omnia. As the article reports, a recent court order by Superior Court Judge Robert Contillo clears the way for executives from the former Barnabas Health (now RWJBarnabas) and former Hackensack University Health Network (now Hackensack Meridian Health) to be deposed. Furey said in a statement to NJBIZ that the ruling is a "clear and decisive victory for New Jersey's independent hospitals, patients and health care transparency." Furey added that the hospitals "expect to obtain further evidence that the scoring protocol was biased in favor of the state's largest hospital systems.
