Providers Get More Time to Report Electronic Health Record Data

Publisher: Bloomberg BNA's Health Care Daily Report
January 19, 2017

Eric Fader was quoted in an article, "Providers Get More Time to Report Electronic Health Record Data," published in Bloomberg BNA's Health Care Daily Report. The article discussed the two-week extension granted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for healthcare providers to report on their electronic health record use. The extension of the reporting deadline is sure to be welcomed by physicians, Fader told Bloomberg BNA, but it may not be long enough. The extension may be the result of some hospitals telling CMS they're going to have trouble meeting the reporting deadline, Fader said, or it could be that CMS was able to draw the same conclusion from the volume of submissions it has already received. "CMS apparently prefers to keep the pressure on by extending the time to report only slightly," Fader observed.
