Jim Bowers Honored by Harvard Law School with Carter Award


Harvard Law School presented Jim Bowers with the James Coolidge Carter Award for Distinguished Service. The Carter Award is one of the highest alumni awards at Harvard Law School and is named in honor of James Coolidge Carter, an 1853 graduate of the law school and the first president of its alumni association. Mr. Carter played a leading role in establishing the Bar Association of the City of New York and served as its president for five terms. He also served as president of the American Bar Association. He was the founding partner of the law firm of Carter & Ledyard and was prominently mentioned as a possible Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. He had a passion for good government and tenaciously assisted the fraud prosecutions of the "Tweed Ring." More information about the award can be found here.
