(HARTFORD, May 21, 2014) - The Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF), the oldest women's rights organization in the country, has named Day Pitney associate Jennifer Galiette as one of the recipients of its "40 Women for the Next 40 Years" award. The award, which is part of the CWEALF's 40-year anniversary celebration, serves to honor and recognize 40 outstanding Connecticut women ages 16-40 who the organization considers to be women leaders for the next 40 years.

Ms. Galiette, an associate in the firm's Energy and Utility Law department, was chosen by a selection committee which received and reviewed an overwhelming number of applications in response to the initiative. "I'm thrilled to have been selected as one of the 40 women for the next forty years," said Ms. Galiette, who was identified by CWEALF as a future leader in part for her passion for service and mentoring. "I enjoy working with and guiding both clients and more junior attorneys, and it's a great honor to be recognized for this by CWEALF."

Ms. Galiette's practice encompasses a wide range of matters, including regulatory litigation and renewable energy transactions. She has served as coordinator and mentor for Day Pitney's summer intern program and recently completed a multi-year pro bono assignment in which she helped to successfully transition minor siblings who were wards of the state into a permanent foster family. She also currently serves as an officer for the Public Utility Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and is an active member of the Energy Bar Association and the Yale Alumni in Energy organization.

"Jen understands what is required to be a leader, mentor and team player, and we are so pleased that her service and leadership have earned her this honor from CWEALF," said David Doot, chair of Day Pitney's Energy and Utility Law department.

Ms. Galiette is a 2008 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and earned her B.A. from Yale University in 2005, graduating with distinction.

The reception honoring all 40 women was held on May 15 at the Pond House Café in West Hartford. Day Pitney has partnered with CWEALF in its year-long initiative to honor Connecticut women who are helping build opportunities for other women statewide.
