Albert Zakarian Receives the Connecticut Bar Association Edward F. Hennessey Professionalism Award

HARTFORD, Conn., May 19, 2015 -- The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) has announced that it will present the Edward F. Hennessey Professionalism Award to Day Pitney partner Albert Zakarian in recognition of his dedication to the highest ideals and standards of the legal profession.

Edward F. Hennessey Professionalism Award recipients must have demonstrated integrity, character, competence, ethics, civility, and mentoring over the course of their career as to inspire greater professionalism among lawyers and pride in their profession, while also enhancing the public's perception of the legal profession. The award will be presented at the CBA Annual Luncheon at the Connecticut Legal Conference on June 15, 2015.

"Throughout his career, Al has served his country, his profession and his clients with honor, dedication and distinction," said Stan Twardy, managing partner of Day Pitney. "It is no surprise to us that Al has been given this award. He wholeheartedly deserves it for his dedication to Connecticut's legal community."

Zakarian joined Day Pitney in 1968. His practice is focused on labor, employment and business litigation in state and federal courts. He has tried more than 100 cases to verdict, including representing high-profile public figures in civil litigation. In recognition of his contributions to the profession, Zakarian was elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers (1988), the American Board of Trial Advocates (1984) and the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers (2005). In 2012, the Hartford County Bar Association presented him with the President's Award for Excellence. Before joining the firm, he served in Vietnam as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968. For his service during the Tet Offensive, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Air Force Commendation Medal. In addition, Zakarian has done pro bono work as a volunteer defender in the Connecticut state courts, where he represented indigent clients in criminal trials. He has also represented disabled veterans in claims for disability benefits. Zakarian is a graduate of Trinity College and Columbia Law School.
