Hope Cone is the Matrimonial practice group chair and practices in the areas of family law litigation and counseling. She represents family law clients who have large marital estates, including senior-level corporate executives, partners in professional service firms, owners of closely held businesses, and well-known individuals.
Hope provides advice on and litigates all aspects of marriage dissolution, including spousal and child support, equitable distribution, and custody. She practices primarily on the business and financial aspects of the dissolution. She counsels clients on the valuation and distribution of assets such as closely held businesses, partnership interests, retirement plans, pension plans and other deferred compensation plans, severance payments, golden parachutes, stock option plans, health insurance benefits, and executive perquisites. Hope also advises on general business planning, tax concerns, and estate planning issues.
In addition to providing full services in the traditional area of marriage dissolution, Hope counsels and represents individuals in matters regarding premarital agreements, matters of palimony, paternity litigation, and adoption proceedings. In addition to her litigation experience, she has experience in mediation both as a mediator and as an advocate.
Represented senior executives, including presidents, chief executive officers, chief financial officers, and chairmen of major national and international corporations in the dissolution of their marriages, with marital estates ranging from $1 million to $100 million; individual clients have been senior-level executives or owners of large U.S. banking institutions, stock exchanges, leading accounting and consulting firms, leading office supplies retailers, prominent fashion design and retailing companies, leading consumer electronics companies, major manufacturing companies, leading providers of financial and economic data, major data processing systems and products companies, and major media and entertainment companies
