Paul Marino, an experienced litigator and chair of the firm's Probate Litigation practice group, represents individuals and corporate fiduciaries in contested trust, estate and guardianship matters. His recent representative trust and estate matters include the defense of a corporate executor against fiduciary duty claims, defense of individual trustees against claims regarding the validity of trust instruments and the defense of an executor in a will contest.
Paul also has extensive experience litigating commercial disputes, including utility, franchise, contract, construction and securities matters, as well as consumer class actions.
In addition, Paul defends lawyers and law firms against malpractice and related claims in state and federal courts. Clients have included individual transactional lawyers and litigators, as well as regional and international law firms.
Paul is the managing partner of the firm's New Jersey office. He is the former chair of Day Pitney's Pro Bono Committee, the captain of Day Pitney's pro bono program in which Day Pitney attorneys act as court-appointed attorneys for allegedly incapacitated persons in guardianship proceedings in New Jersey, participated extensively in the Bet Tzedek Project, which assists Holocaust survivors with applications for reparations from the German Government, and is the recipient of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Pro Bono Award for 2013. Paul is also the former chair of the Federal Practice and Procedure Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
