Gerald "Gerry" Garfield, an experienced counselor and advocate, assists domestic and foreign clients in the public utility sector with particular emphasis on nuclear power and mergers and acquisitions. His work in the public utility area has included regulatory matters involving the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other federal and state agencies having jurisdiction over the siting, construction, and operation of power plants. He has also practiced before the state agencies that regulate public utilities throughout New England.
Gerry's experience includes procurement and financing of fossil and nuclear generating facilities, as well as the representation of developers, equity investors, equipment vendors and engineer/contractors in the domestic and international power development fields. Gerry has also advised utilities and other investors on utility mergers and acquisitions.
Gerry is a member of the Board of Directors of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), the policy organization of the nuclear industry. He is also chair of NEI's Legal Advisory Committee. Gerry chairs Day Pitney's Nuclear Energy Practice Group.
