Thomas "Tom" Havens is a partner in Day Pitney's Energy and Utility Law department. His practice is focused on the renewable energy sector. He has advised U.S. and foreign developers, investors, utilities, lenders and other market participants on numerous transactions involving the development, construction, acquisition, sale and financing of wind, solar and other renewable energy projects.
In addition to his work in the renewable power sector, Tom has represented electric utilities, power generators and lenders in the acquisition and financing of nuclear, coal and gas-fired electric generating facilities. He also regularly advises clients on U.S. federal and state energy-related legislation and incentive programs, including state renewable portfolio standards.
Assisted a Southwestern U.S. electric utility company in the negotiation of power purchase agreements for a total of 87 MW of solar PV projects in New Mexico and Texas
Represented a Midwestern U.S. utility company in connection with the acquisition of the development assets for a 101 MW wind energy project located in Oklahoma
