Sandra Cruz Kennedy represents and counsels employers regarding workplace matters, including hiring, discipline, termination, employee relations, wage and hour matters, compliance with state and federal laws, and internal policies and procedures.
In employment litigation matters, Sandra assists with case analysis of the operative facts and law. She also drafts pleadings and responses, discovery, legal briefs, and memoranda of law. She defends employers against claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, contract breaches, family medical leave laws, failure to hire, defamation and related tort claims in federal and state court, as well as before administrative agencies.
Sandra has represented public and private sector employers in federal and state courts. She counsels clients on labor and employment issues and preventative practices regarding employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, ADA, wage and hour, drug testing and FMLA. Sandra assists with arbitrations concerning discharge, discipline, scope of work, management rights and other issues that arise in connection with the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements. She also appears before administrative agencies, including the Freedom of Information Commission, Connecticut State Board of Labor Relations, Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Workers Compensation Commission and Unemployment Appeals Division.
