Elizabeth Latif is an experienced trial lawyer who regularly represents companies and individuals in connection with the defense of regulatory, white-collar criminal and complex civil-litigation matters. She is a partner in the Commercial Litigation department and is a member of the Firm's White Collar Defense and Internal Investigations and Securities Enforcement Defense practice groups.
Prior to joining the firm, Elizabeth was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in both the Eastern District of New York and the District of Connecticut. In these roles, she investigated and prosecuted criminal matters involving allegations of investor fraud, money laundering, mail fraud, wire fraud, tax fraud, export control violations, mortgage fraud, international terrorist financing, embezzlement and others, including one of the largest commercial cases out of the New York office of Customs and Border Protection. In addition to trying several cases to verdict, Elizabeth also briefed and argued numerous cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Elizabeth served as a law clerk to The Honorable Chester J. Straub of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and to The Honorable Christopher F. Droney, then in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Elizabeth is a member of the firm's Hiring Committee. She also serves in a leadership role with the Day Pitney Attorneys of Color Network and is actively engaged in the firm's efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession.
