Michael "Mike" Miller has significant experience assisting clients with environmental, health and safety litigation matters, as well as before administrative agencies. He also represents public utilities in docketed and informal working group proceedings before and at the direction of public utility regulators. Mike counsels clients in both transactional and litigation matters, including federal and state clean-up cost recovery actions; hazardous material product liability litigation; federal and state health and safety enforcement actions; federal and state environmental enforcement actions; environmental, and health and safety due diligence for corporate and real estate transactions; regulatory and common law nuisance enforcement and litigation; environmental, health and safety, and public utility administrative proceedings; and permitting and related compliance matters.
Before law school, Mike worked for General Electric, where he managed environmental compliance for the energy business unit. He also led a business-wide machine guarding compliance initiative and managed hazardous materials transportation compliance with United States and International modal transportation regulations. While in law school, Mike was with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). His focus at DEEP was on air emissions compliance and ozone transport legal issues. Mike continues to participate in DEEP initiatives, including DEEP's on-going Comprehensive Evaluation and Transformation of Connecticut’s Cleanup Laws.
In 2016, Chambers USA (Chambers & Partners)* included Mike on their list of Associates to Watch for his handling of environmental litigation and regulatory enforcement. Interviewees noted he was "responsive and knowledgeable" and affirmed that he is "definitely a rising star."
