Robert "Bob" Miller understands that the practice of trusts and estates law requires in equal measure a demand for technical experience and sophistication and a need to understand, appreciate, and be responsive to the needs of clients, or their survivors, as individuals. With his more than 30 years of experience exclusively in the area of estate planning and administration, Bob provides clients with both those technical and personal capabilities.
Bob helps individuals, including both current and retired chief executive officers of some of the largest business organizations in the country, with their estate planning. He also handles the administration of estates and trusts, frequently serving as an executor of estates and trustee of trusts. Bob works on an ongoing basis with national financial consultants, accounting firms and investment advisors to best serve clients' needs. He frequently advises clients with non-U.S. assets and U.S. citizens who reside in other countries or who are also citizens of other countries. He regularly represents clients domiciled in Connecticut and New York, where he is admitted to practice, and other states, working with local counsel.
Bob enjoys and values charitable activities and participates as an officer or director of more than 15 public charities and private foundations. In particular, as an ardent conservationist, he has headed the Land Trust of the Henry L. Ferguson Museum, which is dedicated to the acquisition and stewardship of undeveloped property of environmental importance on Fishers Island, New York for more than 20 years. He is also a director of Connecticut Audubon Society.
Bob has been married to his wife Adrienne, a clinical social worker, for over 30 years. He and Adrienne live in Westport and have two adult daughters. He is an experienced birder and an expert salt water fly-fisherman. He enjoys scuba diving and the observation and photography of whales, porpoises and other marine life from his fishing boat the Pagan, which is berthed in Noank, Connecticut.
